The Beef State

As Nebraska is The Beef State, we decided our first top 5 would be BURGERS!
We took different approaches when it came to our top 5 burger lists.  Dustin's list contains several different types of burgers and Autumn's list is simply cheeseburgers.

Top 5 Nebraska Burgers

Dustin's List:
  1. Cheeseburger: Family Pub, Burr*
  2. Cheeseburger: Get-A-Way Bar and Grill, Manley
  3. The Bender:  Round the Bend Steakhouse & Saloon, South Bend
  4. Black Jack Burger:  Brewsky's Sports Bar, Lincoln
  5. Cheeseburger:  Tam O'Shanter Lounge, Lincoln

Autumn's List:
  1. Get-A-Way Bar and Grill, Manley
  2. Stella's, Bellevue
  3. Denton Daily Double Steakhouse, Denton
  4. Greg's Drive-In, Lincoln
  5. Tam O'Shanter Lounge, Lincoln

*This establishment is under new ownership, so we cannot guarantee the burgers here.

Dad's suggestion:  Peanut Butter, Bacon Cheeseburger:  5th Quarter Classic, Palmyra

Hey guys. I'm going to try to add some western Nebraska local stuff for you. For burgers, the double bacon cheeseburger at the Rustic Tavern in Morrill is stellar, especially with a tall beer. They also have a killer Cajun burger with loads of jalapenos; again with a tall beer. Also, what about the Max burger at Grandma Max's. Two pounds of meat, two pounds of other stuff, if you can eat it in an hour, it's free and you get a t-shirt and your picture on the wall of fame. I've also heard Ole's in Paxton right off the interstate is really good, but I've never eaten there so I can't vouch for that. I like your blog and will be reading (and probably commenting) it often. Thanks guys and I hope all is well back east.

Ole's in Paxton is actually very good, Tim. Even though I haven't tried the burgers there (went with the daily special) it was very tasty. I was also suprised to have such a nice home-cooked meal in a bar setting. Dustin, you and Autumn def need to go sometime and take the kiddos! They have these amazing displays of taxidermed? animals all over the place! There is even a huge polar bear! Check it out

We went to BrewBurgers in Omaha this weekend. Very good! They have all different types of burgers, including salmon, lamb, and bison. I tried the Inside Out burger and Dustin had the West Texas burger. I may have to edit by top 5 once I try the pub in Burr again.

We went to the 5th Quarter Tavern in Palmyra tonight. I had the "World Famous P.O. Pears 'Jiffy Burger'" It was AMAZING! They also make their own fries, so all in all it was a great meal.
